What excites you most about The Field Semester?
To me, the most exciting aspect of The Field Semester is the concept of a truly diverse community of committed young people living, learning, and working together on the land. I believe TFS will offer a literally life-changing experience to our students.
Tell us about the greatest thing you’ve learned while working on The Field Semester?
Before I became involved with TFS, I had never heard of semester schools. By now I have met a number of people who attended a semester school and found it to be a profoundly formative experience. I think the founders’ vision for TFS will be even more powerful.
While still in development, what impacts has The Field Semester already had on you? What insights have you gleaned from being a key part of this project thus far?
The road we have traveled to reach this point has surprised me both in terms of the challenges of creating a residential school and the depth of support we have received from our supporters. There is a strong feeling in the community that something like TFS is needed to enrich the educational experience our children are currently getting.
