MEET MILLIE CHU BAIRD

Currently the Senior Program Officer of Climate Advocacy and Equity at The Yellow Chair Foundation, Millie leverages data to tackle environmental issues.

What excites you most about The Field Semester?

I'm excited about the possibility of providing an educational experience for Bay Area students that will be transformational for the students, for the community, and for the world. The world needs different kinds of leaders and global citizens, and I think The Field Semester is going to be a key part of the learning journey for some amazing youth.

Tell us about the greatest thing you’ve learned while working on The Field Semester?

I've learned to really open my mind to transformational ideas and opportunities ... and to be brave.

While still in development, what impacts has The Field Semester already had on you? What insights have you gleaned from being a key part of this project?

I've learned that putting equity and justice principles into practice starts with the very basics of person-to-person interactions and builds from there. I've also learned that high functioning, learning, generative teams are those who can remind each other to challenge the status quo.
